eon8.com

Something quite interesting has come to my attention. The site Eon8.com. A shadowy, mysteriously-themed site that featured a countdown. All other pages not containing either logs of IP addresses and goveremnt sites or code were password protected. One particular attention-grabber: near the bottom of one of the said pages, a map of the world. Red dots flashed, mainly in heavily populated areas. Dangerous? Maybe. Terrorist site? Possibly.

Some members of the web did some research. Eon8 was hosted by The Planet, notorious for hosting other terrorist sites. Could this really be a dangerous site? The countdown continued for 6 months. The Project Status changed rapidly, from X13600 Ready to X13600 Imminent, then finally, at 0d 0h 0m 0s, it came to rest at X136000 Deployed. A new link appeared on the site. Reveal the Truth.

“Matt”, a Texas resident, had created the site. It was, in fact, no more than an experiment. What would you do if a site withheld information? The site was accused more times of being dangerous than some blatently screaming “We/I am/are going to hack the entire web!”…
