Brief Break

2 March 2007

So, my brother has a hockey tournament to go to with his Ice Dogs team, at the Ice World rink. It’s lasting all weekend, so we’ll be up there in some hotel or other. First game tonight sometime after 10 PM.

Since my slightly-computer-inclined parents almost locked down their Windows laptop, I’m going to have to resort to bringing a Knoppix LiveDVD (kind of Linux that runs off of a DVD, no install needed, see this post for a bit more info) and a USB drive (my temporary, 512mb hard drive) to get on the free WiFi that is offered at the rink, and probably the hotel too.

Yeah, so, I might not be able to get on, though, since I’m not quite sure what Knoppix has on it… the site says more than 2000 programs, and although that’s true (more than 2 gigs of taken-up space on the DVD), I don’t know if it has what I need. It’s been a while since I last popped it in. But Linux is usually pretty good about that stuff.
