(no subject)

Just a quick post:

Turns out that the new card my parents bought (to go with the router, was a few weeks ago) isn’t supported by ndiswrapper right now. No INF files have been written for the model we have (WPC54GX4), only up to WPC54GX (yes, that one little 4 means a new model). So, no wireless. Only wired Ethernet from the hotel room. Too new a card. Not even the Windows driver for ndiswrapper works. ndiswrapper, by the way, is a cross-distriution (Knoppix, Debian, Slackware, Redhat, etc) Linux application that enables the use of Windows-based, and to some degree, originial Windows, drivers for wireless cards.

WiFi

Yes, so here I am, at the Wingate Inn, up in Abbingdon, Maryland. I’m running the Knoppix 5.0 LiveDVD I told you about. Wingate is pretty nice so far, with free high-speed internet. Knoppix won’t recognize the LinkSys card we have, so I can only get on from our hotel room… ah well… at last there is internet.

The management is helpful, bringing up the extra sheets and pillows we needed for the sleeper sofa, but the cleaning staff leaves a lot to be desired. There were still sheets on the folded part. Used sheets. Expected a bit more, you know?

Oh yeah. My brother’s team lost their first game, 4-1, against… um… somebody. Not sure who. I heard they played hard, but wasn’t there to see most. I was busy trying to get Knoppix to detect and work our wireless card in the Ice World lobby.

Yes, it is 20 minutes past midnight. It was a late game.
